Saturday's world of work

Well, today started with some rock picking in the vineyard, followed by building up the area under the pump. It looks ok now, but winter will be the big test. Hopefully the pump platform won't end up at the bottom of the dam. Here's how it looks now:

It's getting very cold at night - got to keep Caralyn and Scarlett warm at night... Dragged some branches from our property onto the trailer and headed back. Used the chainsaw to cut them up, then split them for indoor use.

While I was cutting the wood, David turned up for shoot. Headed down and shot some targets. Got a pretty good pattern using a .22 magnum. Nylon tipped rounds. My pattern is marked 'V'.

The mobile rang while we were down there- Caralyn had found a red-bellied black snake in the shower. We headed up and took care of it. Some people have suggested I brought the snake up to the house in the wood, but I think I would have seen it when using the chainsaw.

Chickens admire the electric fence

Several chickens under my command now enjoy the kind of protection usually reserved for prisoners of war. This recently finished fox-proof fence draws on the power of the sun to deliver a non-fatal shock to vermin.
